PipeSak geotextile pipeline weights are manufactured from extremely tough, non-biodegradable, woven polypropylene fabrics. By utilizing bulk bag manufacturing technology, PipeSak Inc. is able to offer a product that is made to the highest standards at the lowest cost. All of our manufacturers are ISO rated ensuring a consistent, high quality product.
PipeSaks come in two designs - set-on weights for all pipe diameters, and strap-on weights for smaller diameter pipelines. Pipesak also offers a convenient hopper for quick filling.
Set-On Weights
These are our most versatile and popular bag weights. PipeSak set-on weights are used for typical pipeline installations where the pipeline is welded, field bent and lowered in long sections with weighting installed after the pipeline is in the trench. Unlike concrete coating where extremely heavy pieces of pipe must be transported, welded, and lowered into the trench, set-on PipeSaks allow the contractor to install the pipeline quickly and easily with the least amount of equipment. Compared to concrete coating, PipeSak set-on weights dramatically reduce the amount (and size!) of the equipment required while increasing daily production and reducing overall project costs.
Strap-On Weights
Our strap-on weights were designed to give the contractor an easier and more cost effective alternative to concrete bolt-on weights. Our strap-on weights are generally used for smaller diameter pipelines (16" diameter and less) where conditions necessitate that the weights are installed prior to pipe installation in the trench. Once lowered directly onto a skidded-up section of pipe, our strap-on weight is cinched tight with a single polypropylene strap - with absolutely NO METAL near the pipeline.
Strap-on weights are remarkably easier to install than concrete bolt-on weights, where two halves must be lined up and positioned above and below the pipe with long bolts threaded through and tightened with impact wrenches. PipeSak strap-on weights install quickly and easily with no additional tools or labour required.
Quick Fill and Release Hopper
The Quick Fill and Release Hopper gives the contractor the flexibility to fill PipeSaks quickly and easily wherever a few loads of gravel can be dropped off. This flexibility dramatically reduces the shipping and handling costs characteristic of all other pipeline weighting methods. PipeSaks are palletized and shipped directly to the site, often within days, and then filled to their exact weight and volume using the Quick Fill and Release Hopper system. The contractor need only fill as many PipeSaks as required . any left overs can be folded up and shelved until the next project!
